Join us for some fun recreational outdoor activities here today at Piha Beach as we begin this relaunched Meet Up Group for people now ...like me...and perhaps you....that are proudly Big and Beautiful ..or simply looking for an alternative walking group for overweight people...and reasons to get healthier in 2026..and perhaps lose a few kilos ...and establish new friends ..that's my Why to start this Plus Sized Walking Group...

As an experienced outdoors walking and hiking guide on Meet Up starting Feet First Hiking Group ..15 years ago ..I am now at my heaviest ..despite being tall ..I haven't been hiking much lately...and over indulgence throughout Christmas holidays have added more to my big frame.

I've decided to start this Plus Sized Walking Group to help others...and myself...get outdoors together more in 2026..and along the way...release weight...brighten my life....and discover how we can be happier and healthier walking together...

From our Meet Up Location ...we will walk to Lion Rock along the black sand beach to begin with..then continue along the South Piha where's there's plenty to see .the Blow Hole at low tide has access to some hidden caves. And there's plenty of photo opportunities today here too.

Then we will wander past the iconic beach Baches here ..and get into the bush to visit the highly popular Kitekite Falls.

Optional swimming here or just relax at the bottom for the Days Activities while others may walk up to the top .

Piha Store is close by on the way back to our cars. .with cold drinks and ice creams ..so there's something here for everyone's pleasure today.

Easy paced walking together...about three hours...and around 8km...there's no big hills...., we stop lots to rest and take pictures and talk about the things we see along the way like trees and plants and listening to nature.

WHEN- Saturday 24th January - 2026.

WHERE MEETING-

Piha Beach Toilets & Helicopter Pad.
103 Marine Parade North.
Just past Lion Rock on left opposite the Houses on right.

WHAT TIME - 10.00 AM.

We will aim to be finished by 3pm depending on numbers and the days activities.

BRING - LUNCH And protein snacks and water for the Days Activities. Carry everything you Need for the Walk , in a small backpack with Water Towel Swimwear or you decide. Wear strong walking shoes or boots. Optional Hiking pole/stick helps support older knees and back. I always carry mine.

Carpooling Method-

Add your Mobile number and Area where you live and contact each other when you RSVP. If you need a ride or have space for another member please add a Note below . Thank you.
.We suggest you give your Driver at least $20 for the ride to Piha about an hour plus drive from Auckland CBD.

We ask that you plan ahead to allow Extra travel time to Piha or picking up Passengers.
No petrol station at Piha.
