I'm hoping this group connects local people in their 30s to 40s - who can socialise both by being 'Interested' in others and 'Interesting' themselves! I've loved reading 'Talking to Strangers' by one of the guys who started 'Yes Theory' and 'Doorstep Mile' by Alastair Humphreys. I like the concept of the community dinner in 'Kindred' in Hammersmith. I enjoy building local friendships and relationships, and think this can be hard in London. I much prefer decent chats than smalltalk, but have a silly sense of humour too. Come along - let's see what we can create together.
I often come armed with the 'seek discomfort' spark cards, or Esther Perel ' where shall we begin' cards .... great prompts to avoid 'so what do you do' chat ....
We'll meet in Chiswick House cafe (next to the main house and found on google maps). If it's raining and busy we might mooch to a local pub for more space and quiet. But if it's not tipping it down we can mooch around the gardens. (DOG FRIENDLY GARDENS) .. and possibly wander to a riverside pub. These meet ups are really flexible depending on numbers and what people are feeling like on the day - I try to have a number of plans up my sleeve depending.
If you've never been to Chiswick House before - it's gorgeous - https://chiswickhouseandgardens.org.uk/plan-your-visit/eat-drink-shop/
NB free entry to gardens. Chiswick House closes at 3.30 (so if you fancy looking around the English Heritage house - you'll need to go before).
The public car park for the House and Gardens is situated just off the westbound A4 and is clearly marked by a brown tourist board entrance sign. The car park has space for 60 cars including 3 spaces for Blue Badge holders, approximately a 5-minute walk to the House. Residential streets on Sunday some are ok - Park Road I think.
