Abstract:
Core features of the Prometheus monitoring system are a high-dimensional data model and easy deployment. Both bring their very own set of problems when it comes to picking a storage solution that provides the performance one would like to see.
After several iterations, lots of benchmarking, and even more profiling, Prometheus arrived at a custom solution that is now able to exceed the initial design goals in terms of disk space and throughput.
