O'Neill Regional Park Hike + Optional Shrine Trail (7-9 mi. Moderate pace)

This hike is geared down to be a more relaxed and moderate pace but still get a good workout without doing a roadrunner pace.
O'Neill Regional Park is situated in the beautiful Trabuco and Live Oak Canyons. The park is heavily wooded with coast live oak and sycamore trees. The hillsides surrounding the park are filled with cactus, wild buckwheat, sagebrush and chaparral of scrub oak, buck thorn and mountain mahogany.

## Enter Meadow Ridge Drive from El Toro Road. Park at the end of Meadow Ridge Drive and walk to the Live Oak trail head. Free street parking is in a residential area. Please respect the neighborhood.
We will start from the Live Oak Trail and take a break at the Vista Point Lookout for a good 360 degree view, then we will continue on the Live Oak Trail into the park for a short break where there are picnic tables and restrooms. Then we will take the Live Oak Trail to Coyote trail and to the Hoffman Homestead Trail then to the Live Oak Trail and the optional Monastery Shrine loop trail and back to Live Oak Trail and back to our cars
There will be an "optional hike to the monastery loop."
Distance: 7.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1300 ft
For Shrine Trail - add another 1.5 mile's
