This is a volunteer opportunity to sort and pack food, as a team, for the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) at the warehouse in Lake Forest.

The volunteer time slot is from 9:00 - 11:30am, but you need to be there 15 minutes before for signing in and getting instructions. We will gather in the lobby entrance at 8:45. This activity requires standing and moving around sorting tables for 2-1/2 hours and lifting up to 10 pounds. If people can lift and move heavier boxes, that is helpful. Wear clothing appropriate for working in a warehouse. Shoes must be closed-toed shoes - no crocs, sandals, or medical boots allowed.

Your email address, first and last name are required for volunteering. You can join the team directly through the link below or you can direct message me that info and I can add you to the system. Because this is a non-profit organization, they are required to track volunteer time. There are waivers they need competed. It is preferred that you do this online, but it can be done when you check in.

NIFB requires our registrations to be on our team roster by 10/25/25, or they automatically return the open slots to the general volunteer pool.

Please RSVP to this event, but also join the volunteer team for the NIBF site.

Please be mindful that this organization relies on volunteers to show up when they take one of the reservation spots. Please let me know if you have any questions.

After the event, if anyone is interested, we can stop a place nearby to get some lunch together.
