What is the last book you read?

The Line by Olga Grushin. Read it if you haven't yet -- stunningly good!

Who is your favorite author?

Goodness, that's hard to pin down -- how about a favorite group of authors of all times? Chekhov, Remarque, Hemingway, Greene, Kundera...

What are 3 random books off your book shelf?

The Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteingart. The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk. Above the Clouds: The Diaries of High Altitude Mountaineer by Anatoli Boukreev. Born To Run by Chris McDougal (wait, that's 4 random books!)

What types of books are you interested in reading?

I need my contemporary fiction fix regularly -- but also read a bunch of non-fiction, esp. on mountaineering, running, and history of places where I travel to for work (Central Asia now).

I find myself reading a lot of contemporary fiction, often getting ideas from the NYT Book Review... so the group sounds perfect!
