Welcome to the Nottingham Climbers meet up group!
This is a casual climbing group where we meet up once or twice a week to boulder or do roped climbing.
Anyone is welcome to join, even if you haven't climbed before. Climbing is great fun and you don't need to be in shape at all to get started. You can take things at your own pace and do as much as you feel comfortable with. The easiest climbs are almost like walking up stairs.
Bouldering is the easiest kind of climbing to get started with. It's short walls with lots of padding underneath, no ropes. You don't need any special equipment or clothing to do it. Just a pair of climbing shoes that you can rent there. It's also very social as between trying boulder problems you'll be standing around chatting with the people around you. It's a great way to get engage in some fun movement whilst making new friends. Our usual bouldering spot is the Depot Climbing Centre on King Edward Street.
Roped climbing is a bit more exhilarating due to the height you can reach. It is also very safe though as the ropes and systems are very secure, well tested and built to hold several hundred kilograms. It is slightly more involved to get started with but you can still rent everything you need there and we can supervise you if it's your first time. Our usual spot for this is the Nottingham Climbing Centre on Noel Street.

Bouldering at Depot Nottingham
Depot Climbing Nottingham, 4 King Edward Street, Nottingham, GBA chill bouldering session.
We'll meet at the Depot at 7:00pm, climb until 9:00pm, then maybe go for food and a drink after.
- 🧗🏻 All skill levels welcome, including if it’s your first time. You can take things at your own pace and do as much as you feel like.
- 👟 Just wear something comfortable to move around in, you can rent climbing shoes there.
- ☕️ Tea and snacks available.
- 💰 View the Depot Pricing page to see their prices, you pay on the day when you get there and you can climb for as long as you like.
- 📋 If this is your first time at the Depot (or trying bouldering even), you'll have to watch a safety video and sign a waiver. It's best to do this before hand to save time when you're there. Just go to the Depot Registration page and watch the Video Induction at the end, then fill out the 18+ Unsupervised Form. It does have a few questions about harnesses, ropes and belaying, but you can mark no and say you don't need instruction in those techniques. The Depot Nottingham doesn't have roped climbing anyway.
If you're coming for the first time, one of the hosts will comment what they're wearing so it's easier to find them.
Also there will generally always be more people going than it says on Meetup as we have quite a few regulars who come.

Just go to the NCC Registration Page and watch the Bouldering Safety Video, then fill out the 18+ Unsupervised Form. It does have a few questions about harnesses, ropes and belaying for roped climbing, but don't worry you can mark no and just join us for the bouldering.
