A few of us have expressed interest in taking more walks this summer, so here is the first of what could become a series. This route should be accessible for most people and gives us the option to walk as far as we like.
We will start at Nottingham Train Station and follow the canal path towards Beeston, taking in a stretch of the Big Track. The whole route is approximately 10 miles, but we plan to cover around 4 to 5 miles at most. There is a pub along the way where we can stop for a drink and decide whether to continue or head back.
The Big Track runs from Trent Bridge to Beeston Lock, with plenty of interesting landmarks along the way – including Castle Marina, Nottingham Forest’s football ground and Trent Bridge cricket ground. Over the summer, we can also explore other sections of this route.
This walk is a great way to get outdoors, take a break from the day-to-day, and enjoy some relaxed conversation. Whether you're looking to unwind, build up your steps, or enjoy the fresh air with friendly company, you're very welcome.
Please let us know if you plan to attend, and bring comfortable shoes and plenty of water to drink.
We will meet in the foyer of Nottingham Train Station at 11 am and wait there for 15 minutes before setting off.
