What we’re about
Nottingham HF is a friendly, long established walking club. We run fortnightly coaches mainly to Derbyshire and Staffordshire, but also to Leicestershire and Yorkshire. Most walks will be circular based upon the named location but the use of a coach gives us the opportunity to occasionally offer linear walks. On each trip three levels of walk are available: 10-12 miles, 7-8 miles and 5-6 miles and are led by experienced walkers. Coach pick-ups are at Keyworth Square 8.40am, then at County Hall, West Bridgford at 9 am, then the centre of Nottingham, Maid Marian Way at the bus stop on the left going North (just round the corner from Mount Street) at 9.15am, and then on the A610 by the Nuthall Pub 9.25am, opposite to Phoenix Park tram terminus (where free parking is also available on the slip road). There are also Wednesday morning car/bus rambles twice a month, usually ending in a pub lunch. You will be allowed to come on one or two of our walks before we ask you to join the club and pay our annual membership fee (£15 single, £25 couple), But if you wish to come regularly on walks with us, we recommend that you join the club.

See all- YHA weekend away to celebrate the club's tenth anniversary on meetupHartington Hall YHA , SK17 0AT
The club is celebrating an amazing ten years on meet up in October and so this seemed a perfect opportunity to have a special walking weekend away! We will be staying in Hartington youth hostel in the Peak District. There will be a medium level walk of 7.5 miles, or a shorter walk of 6.5 miles to choose from on the saturday and sunday from the youth hostel, starting at 9am each day. There will be time to take photos and stop for a drink.
The youth hostel in Hartington is a beautiful building and an economical option for accomodation. You can book your own room (from £100 for two nights) or book a space in a shared room (£48 for two nights). Booking early is recommended as the rooms do fill up. YHA Hartington. If you book in a shared room, please message me, and I will try and get everyone on this weekend put in the same room (one for men and one for women).
Breakfast is available to purchase (£5.95 continential or £9.95 full) or you can use the self-catering facilities to make your own breakfast as well as your picnic lunch. Evening meals are also available at the hostel, these are between £9 and £13 for a main. and there is the Devonshire Arms pub nearby as another option for an evening meal. The menu looks nice and mains are between £13 and £20. I'm planning to book a table on the friday night at the hostel and saturday night at the Devonshire Arms at 7pm. I may ask for a deposit for the pub meal nearer the time.
This weekend is definitely going ahead, we already have a number of club members attending, so feel free to book now. If you have any questions, please message me on meetup! If you do not wish to stay in the hostel, there are other accomodation options locally. Or you are very welcome to simply join us for one or both walks and / or the meals if you don't want to stay for the weekend!
What to bring on the rambles: You need to bring good walking boots, waterproofs, and suitable clothing where necessary (depending on the weather forecast) as well as a rucksack when you come on a ramble with us. Don't forget to bring a packed lunch with you and some liquid refreshment.
