Train/Car/Bus Ramble: Bennerley Viaduct

Start walk at 10.30am from Ilkeston Train Station. We wait for bus/train
in case of late arrival. Walk: Approximately 6 miles. From Ilkeston Railway Station walk along the Erewash Canal southbound for a mile & then turn
west to cross the midland railway footbridge going over the fields through
Strelley Village where we will have lunch at Strelley Hall.
Then back passing the lions to Swingate, Kimberly & Bennerly Viaduct.
Walking over the viaduct onto the Erewash Canal & back to Ilkeston.

Directions by train: From Nottingham departure 10:17am arrives
Ilkeston 10:29am. From Chesterfield / Alfreton (09:54/10:05 departures
respectively) arrives Ilkeston 10:15am.
Directions by car: Access to car park is off Station Road Ilkeston,
very close to the roundabout with the A6096 and Coronation Road.
Charges apply: 24hr daily rate £3.00. Off-peak day: £2.20 (from 10:00 to
02:30 Mon-Fri).
Directions by bus: 27 service, Kimberley-Ilkeston or get the TrentBarton
bus the ‘TWO’ from the Victoria Centre, Nottingham, buses every 15 mins,
journey time approx. 40 mins.

Important to know: There are usually 10-15 people on these walks. A lot of the walkers will be club members and are not on the Meetup website.
