About the Event:

We'll be kicking off at 18:30GMT for an open networking chat on Zoom, before kicking our talks off at 7PM.

What we'll be doing:

Peter Shaw and Jose Simões- Using .NET nanoFramework to Hack Lego Mindstorms

Join Peter Shaw & The Creator of .NET nanoFramework, Jose Simões as they use C# and the .Net Framework directly
on some microcontrollers to hack and control Lego Mindstorms.

In this session, you'll meet the .Net nanoFramework, learn how to set it up and use it to program Microcontrollers using C#.

Then you'll see how to use it's abilities to make new sensors that extend the Lego NXT Robotics System, and how to use a regular
microcontroller to control Lego Mindstorms motors, and control your Lego creations without using the NXT cube.

Our speakers:

Peter Shaw:

Peter has been around technology and computing in its various forms since 1979, started with a Sinclair ZX81 which he very rapidly took apart to find out how it worked.

Repeating this pattern year after year with ever increasing "techie things", he now in his 40th year routinely continues to torture and explore the innards of and figure out how to program anything that has electronical circuits and computing abilities inside of it, and will probably continue to do so as long as he can.

He owns his own technology business operating out of the north-east UK, with clients all over the world, who hire him to trouble shoot, test, break, un-break just about any gadget, computing system or piece of software you can imagine.

Peter is also a well-known figure in the .NET community as a Pluralsight & Syncfusion Author and one of the main figure-heads behind "LiDNUG", the Linked .NET Online Users group.

Jose Simões:
Jose is the CEO and founder of Eclo, a company that provides embedded systems design and cloud infrastructure solutions for various industries.

He has over 20 years of experience in software development, product
development, and management, and he is a Microsoft MVP in Developer Technologies and IoT, a recognition that reflects my passion for sharing my knowledge and expertise with the community.

He is also the founder and core team lead of the .NET nanoFramework, an open source project that enables writing C# code for constrained embedded devices using Visual Studio and .NET.

His mission is to empower developers to create innovative
and efficient applications for the IoT domain, using the best tools and practices available.

He is proficient in C#, C, C++, Azure, Azure Dev Ops, GitHub, wireless sensors, micro-controllers, STM32, ESP32, Silabs Gecko, and more.

He enjoys developing tech communities and participating in global
hackathons and events.
