Welcome to the Emotional Gym and the opportunity to join a One-day Men’s group where you can open yourself up to the challenge of learning to hold weighty emotions, stretch your emotional spectrum, grow out of your comfort zones and develop emotional fitness. You are invited to be with a group of men who are seeking to take responsibility for their emotions, language and behaviour. This first one day group will be an introduction to the world of Men’s groups and the emotional gym. Future groups will delve into intimacy, anger, body and relationships.
What to expect?
· A safe facilitated space
· A group of men seeking to explore emotions
· Verbal and Psycho-educational input on masculinity, emotions the body.
· Group activities including movement, games and emotional interaction.
· Emotional fitness stretching and developing our capacity to hold the weight of unfamiliar and heavier emotions.
James Hawes will be facilitating the emotional gym
James has been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 20 years specialising in working with boys and men. During this time, he has worked successfully with thousands of men in individual and group spaces. James has written a book called’ The Secret Lives of Men’ which is regularly recommended by therapists to their clients and has been bought by thousands of readers.
James has been involved in setting up and being in Men’s groups for over 20 years. He believes that individual therapy is great for increasing emotional awareness and growth and group work is fantastic for accelerating that growth bringing extra intensity, challenge, de-shaming and the opportunity of lifting the weighty emotions with the support and presence of a group of men.
At the core of most men’s groups, we seek to answer two questions, often the most difficult questions for men to ask themselves:

- What do you need?
