Weekly Meeting: Stop That Voice of Self-Criticism – A Practical, ‘How-To’ Guide
Details
Our online meeting this week focuses on the powerful ways in which Mindfulness can help us to break free from the torment of our own self-criticism, and the tendency we have to "beat ourselves up" (often quite cruley) when things go wrong in life – and, what's more, we'll look at how the same set of techniques which can free us from this can also empower us, teaching us how to not only accept ourselves as we are... but actually enable us to move into genuinely liking ourselves.
With lots of fascinating, insightful and inspiring guidance and teaching from several top experts in this field, we'll together explore how Mindfulness can radically change (pretty quickly) the way we relate to ourselves – and the way in which we view and engage with the world.
In the course of the meeting, we'll look at the scientifically-proven methods that sit at the very heart of Mindfulness – techniques that can help us to not only find greater calm and inner-peace, but which also enable us to break free from painful self-criticism, and step into a new (and positive) relationship with ourselves.
During the meeting our featured experts will will share their understanding and expertise with us in short, inspiring videos clips, while local Mindfulness teacher, Shaun Glossop (our Group Co-Ordinator), will be on-hand to guide us through this topic in a grounded, straightforward, and easy-to-understand way. Plus, of course, we'll join together in several periods of deeply relaxing guided meditation!

[This meeting is the second in a series of 4 consecutive Thursday night meetings exploring the broader topic of 'Making Mindfulness Work For You'. These 4 weekly meetings (each of which is a separate, stand-alone event - you don't need to attend all 4) will focus on actually applying Mindfulness successfully in our daily lives - even amidst the pressures, difficulties, distractions and challenges that modern life can throw at us. As part of this, we'll be sharing lots of practical help, tips, and techniques that enable us all to overcome the resistance, avoidance, and procrastination that so often arises when it's time to meditate or do our practice on our own - and we'll explore (in a practical, positive and supportive way) the main problems, difficulties and challenges that tend to crop-up for people when they're attempting to make Mindfulness a meaningful part of their daily lives. We'll also be looking at the powerful, effective and workable ways that can be used to actually overcome these difficulties in everyday life.]
