Weekly Meeting: 4 Powerful Steps Out of Depression, Worry & Negative Thinking

Nottingham Mindfulness Group - Meditation & Mindful Living
Details
This week in our online Thursday meeting we'll be exploring the simple, straightforward but powerful steps that Mindfulness provides which can liberate us from the pain of depression, excessive worry and negative thinking - approaching these as a practical, down-to-earth, step-by-step plan that can be implemented by anyone in the flow of daily life.
We'll look at the powerful techniques that Mindfulness offers us to tackle both depression and negative thinking (along with our tendency to always focus on the negative and to excessively worry), with the evening including expert teaching and guidance from THREE of the world's leading figures in the field of Mindfulness as a tool for mental health and emotional well-being - Professor Mark Williams of Oxford University, Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn (the 'father' of modern, secular Mindfulness and the creator of the 8-week Mindfulness therapeutic program), and Ed Halliwell (a leading British Mindfulness teacher and bestselling author who is acclaimed for his work in the area of metal health), who will all share their expertise and insight with us in some short but inspiring film and video clips.
Our approach during the evening will be to look at some of the key techniques and tools of mindfulness from the point-of-view of them forming a simple, systematic, and structured 4-step approach to reducing depressive thinking, negativity and worry in a fast-acting way.
The event will be hosted by local professional Mindfulness teacher, Shaun Glossop (a trained Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy coach and our Group director), who will guide us through the evening's topic, explaining in an easy-to-understand way the ways in which we can all implement these methods quickly and easily in our own lives in a structured but practical way.
Plus, the evening will include several periods of deeply relaxing guided meditation.
