The mighty Harmonic Choir is Nottingham's foremost large choral society, performing their autumn concert in the lovely acoustic of the Albert Hall. Members are auditioned singers of a high standard; their conductor Richard Laing is a terrific director getting the best out of them in tackling major works.

First half is the World Premier of Panta Rhei, a new work written especially for the choir by Swiss composer Carl Rütti. Harmonious and stirring with strands of jazz and blues, it is an exciting piece to hear with full orchestra accompaniment.
Second half is the beloved Requiem by Mozart, his final work written in the months before his own death in 1791. Poignant and powerful, Mozart infused the Latin text with intense theatrical contrast — pitting terrifying, rumbling visions of divine judgment (Dies irae, Confutatis) against sublime, tender moments of mercy and light (Lux aeterna).

Dylan is hosting this Event, as I will be on stage myself in the Tenor section of the choir. Meet in the bar beforehand, I will come and say hello there in the interval!
