THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE//DUSTY 4 TRACK//CARLEY'S WRECK AND RUIN
Details
On Thursday 14th May, I'll be heading to the Old Cold Store (behind the Vat & Fiddle opposite Nottingham station) to see the legendary Urban Voodoo Machine.
If you haven’t heard of them, think: The Pogues meets Nick Cave in a dark carnival. They're a 9-piece band - fiddles, horns, upright bass, and pure rock 'n' roll theatre and have played numerous festivals. They are "party legends," so seeing them in a venue like The Cold Store is quite a coup for Nottingham!

"For anyone who loves their blues with a heavy dose of brass! This isn't your average gig—it’s a New Orleans-style funeral march crashed into a rock 'n' roll party. High-energy, world-class musicianship."

THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE
London legends The Urban Voodoo Machine — led by the ever-flamboyant Norwegian-born singer, songwriter and guitar-slinger Paul-Ronney Angel — return to the road this spring, touring the UK in support of their new album Other People’s Children - which made Vive Le Rock Magazine's Top 40 of Albums Of 2025.
Since 2003, this superbly talented collective of musicians and showmen and women has been bringing their raucous, theatrical circus to the people, racking up thousands of shows and releasing several critically acclaimed albums along the way.
Uniquely, The Urban Voodoo Machine are the only band in the world to have played both Download Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival, and they’ve toured with true legends including The Pogues and New York Dolls.
Described as “a great mix of Preservation Hall jazz, Eastern European folk and rock’n’roll” (R’N’R), the band’s own brand of Bourbon-Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop ’N’ Stroll has captivated audiences across the UK, US and Europe. Their fiercely loyal and ever-growing Black ’N’ Red-clad family is a testament to the power of the live show.
If you’ve ever seen The Urban Voodoo Machine live, you won’t have forgotten it — part circus, part theatre, and a full-throttle Rock ’n’ Roll show.

DUSTY 4 TRACK
8.00 pm
Dusty 4 Track is a band forever chasing connection the old fashioned way through sweat, song, and the open road.
Their album is a collection of songs amalgamated from two different side projects. Will's songs, most written or inspired by ideas found on an old four track and Ben's, a collection of songs written a while ago and gathering dust whilst he was trying to form a band to play them. Whilst drinking and chatting about their projects the idea of forming a band together was born!
"With this album the boys were taking listeners on a rolling road through the highs and lows of a debauched drinking session - and the subsequent consequences. This isn’t just reflected in the lyrical storytelling, but also in Will Jeffery’s whiskey-and-honey soaked vocals, which I would happily eat straight from the jar with a spoon if it were possible. For those partial to something husky via the likes of Tom Waits, C.W. Stoneking or J.J. Cale, I highly recommend."
