Modern life can be an incredibly fast-paced, high-pressure rollercoaster, often full of unexpected and problematic developments. And under these circumstances, it is easy (indeed, natural) to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed – we can then quickly find ourselves believing we're at fault, that we're simply not "up to the challenge".

But, in fact, there are some simple and straightforward ways in which we can support ourselves at these times and quickly become much more resilient. You just need to know how.

This week in our Thursday meeting we'll be looking at some powerful, practical (and fast acting) strategies that can help us cope really well at times of difficulty, personal challenge, and unnerving uncertainty in life – and we'll be learning how we can even begin to thrive at these times (rather than feeling defeated, lost, or frightened).

Our guides to this important and potentially life-changing topic will include the highly acclaimed psychologist, Rick Hanson PhD, top Neuroscientist, clinical psychiatrist and keen advocate of Mindfulness, Dr Jud Brewer, leading mindfulness teacher Kristen Race, and the ‘father‘ of the modern Mindfulness movement, Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn.

During the meeting we'll explore the ways in which Mindfulness—and some other, closely related practices—can change our outlook, shift our state of mind, and equip us to deal better with the ups -and-downs of our lives and our emotions. We'll also look at how these highly effective techniques and practices are scientifically proven to help us not only cope better in times of uncertainty, but to actually move forward purposefully, positively, and in a confident and productive way at times of difficulty.

In the course of the meeting Rick, Jud and Jon will share their insight, knowledge and guidance with us in three short but inspiring video lessons, and our regular host, Shaun Glossop (a noted local Mindfulness teacher and highly experienced meditation practitioner, who is our Group leader), will guide us through the topic in a grounded, practical and easy-to-understand way.
Plus, of course, we'll share together in several periods of guided meditation.

So, all together it should be a great night!
