Lights, Camera, Blazor: Modernising Cinema Software with C# and Blazor

Details

Kickstart your day on the 16th July with an early morning 'before work' shot of technology-focussed talk and chat where we will be joined by Adam who will bring the theatre of "Modernising Cinema Software with C# and Blazor"

This will be a 'hybrid event' - both in-person at Fothergill House Nottingham, and available to join online too. Those who mark themselves as attending will be sent a link to join the webinar closer to the time if you're unable to join us for breakfast personally. You are welcome to join us at Fothergill House from 7am. The links will also be made available via social media posts so make sure you follow us on LinkedIn and X to keep up to date.

About the talk
Everyone knows that JavaScript is baked into all modern browsers, but have you encountered its more performant counterpart, WebAssembly?

At Savoy Systems, we make cinema software, and we're in the process of fully rewriting our client applications using Blazor (an interactive web framework for C# that can leverage WebAssembly). In this talk, I'll take you through what Blazor is, what WebAssembly is and how it differs from JavaScript, as well as some of the challenges we've come across while rewriting our software in Blazor.

About the speaker
Adam is a software developer at Savoy Systems and a (relatively) recent graduate. His current work involves projects ranging from data visualisation and automated testing, as well as the aforementioned application rewrites. Outside of work, he's a regular volunteer with Scouts, a keen clarinettist, and a smart home enthusiast.
