LC: Laser 103 – Creating engraved shot glasses and glass coasters

Details

Christmas is coming, would you like to give a custom laser engraved present to your friends and family? This hands-on laser class will lead you through creating various glass gifts suitable for the holidays. The course will consist of two parts. First, a lecture portion, where we will discuss the trick in working with glass. Secondly, the hands-on portion where you will have the chance to create either shot glasses or glass coasters.

If you want to create something, please bring vector artwork of the image you wish to engrave. Bitmap artwork will work on glass, but it is slower, and for the sake of the class, we will work only with vectors (SVG, AI, or DFX formats).

If you wish to engrave your own items, please only bring a glass object with a flat surface. This class will talk about laser engraving on curved surfaces (i.e., wine glass) but will not work with the rotary tool during the hands-on portion. Be sure to bring more items than you want to finish since mistakes happen. I will be bringing blank shot glasses and glass coasters, and they will be available at cost (roughly $2 apiece).
This class will cover the peculiarities of laser engraving Mirror, though there will not be sample blanks for this.

This class does not fulfill the Laser 101 requirement to use the Laser Cutter/Engraver on your own. You will be able to work on your projects during the hands-on portion of the class (and afterward) while the teacher is in attendance.
