In this ongoing workshop series, Process Talks, acclaimed visual scribe and illustrator, Bruce Van Patter will give us an behind-the-scenes look at his creative process. Whether you're a visual practitioner, facilitator, educator, or just curious about the world of graphic recording, this session offers a rare opportunity to learn from one of the field’s superstars.
Bruce will walk us through his end-to-end workflow, focusing on the design and illustration of his charts. He'll share how he prepares, develops layouts, and guide the viewer’s eye across each chart. He'll focus on how he designs a common visual theme for each event. Bruce will share his tips for how he translates his predesigns into in-the-moment content for fast-paced, real-time sessions.
Bruce Van Patter, graphic recorder, has been making live visual notes in meetings for 15 years. His colorful work has added a dynamic element to conferences all over the country, for clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to the United Nations. His prior years as a graphic designer then illustrator influence his goal of making engaging captures that are easy to navigate. He recently moved from his native Pennsylvania to Harrisonburg, VA, where he’s trying to learn the proper use of “y’all.”
