Join lettering artist and graphic recorder Heather Martinez and NOVA Scribes for a practical exploration of the Blackwing Foundation Lettering Series. This free series, designed for children, is the foundation for many of Heather’s other lettering offerings.

Designed specifically for visual practitioners, this session will look at the lettering modules through the lens of graphic recording and graphic facilitation. Heather will introduce the series and share ways the exercises and approaches can be translated into the work we do at the wall, on the page, and in the room.

Together we will letter using these foundational styles. We’ll look at ways to adapt and practice the material so that it strengthens both your everyday lettering and the range of styles available to you as a visual practitioner.

And if we have time, we’ll explore how lettering choices can support hierarchy, readability, rapid capture, and visual expression.

Think of this session as a guided introduction and a place to experiment together.

💰We’re not charging for this workshop, but we will be asking for donations! Donations cover the costs of hosting events on Meetup, to honorariums for new graphic recorders, and scholarships.
