Audition to join Nova Singers chorus
Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool, 1955 E Oakland Park Blvd, Oakland Park, FL, USCome audition for Southeast Florida's premier community concert choir, Nova Singers! Don't be shy - come sing with us!
We are seeking all voice parts, men an women, especially tenors and basses.
During the audition, potential members are asked to sight-read a short passage of music. Please do not bring prepared selections, music, or CDs to your audition. Your voice is all you need!
During the audition, the director will ask you to sing a familiar song, along with others, so he can determine which voice part is your best fit. The song will be repeated in a variety of keys, from very high to very low, so he can tell where your voice falls most comfortably.
Then, a soprano, alto, tenor and bass (some of them choir members) will be asked to sight-read a short passage together. You won't be expected to be a perfect sight-reader; we just want to know whether you can tell when the notes go up and down, and are longer or shorter.
If you'd like to audition or have questions, email novasingers@nova.edu. To register for the next audition, please complete and submit this audition form.
Rehearsal follows the audition (which lasts from 6:30 to 6:50 p.m.), and singers who audition will be asked to stay for rehearsal, which lasts until 9:45 p.m. The auditions start promptly at 6:30 p.m., and it is best to arrive at least 10 minutes early to do the paperwork.
The choir meets Tuesday nights at 7 to 9:45 p.m. from September through May. Concerts are in December, March and May.
