Willfully Avoiding Omnicide

We’ve come to a point in our technological evolution where it would seem we’re at the cusp of being able to determine our collective fate. Natural events, whether Terran or cosmic, with the potential to eradicate us seem like very remote possibilities, especially compared to the idea of us killing ourselves, AKA Omnicide.

So, beyond the excellent filter, there appears to be a reason to contemplate possible methods or reasons by which humanity would become collectively extinct. The idea that someone or some collective group would wish for such a thing is hard to imagine but seems to exist.

The fact that we’ve weaponized technology to the point in which governments have endorsed the capability is a bit mind-numbing and terrifying at the same time. What might we be able to do, and should we take dramatic measures to avoid Omnicide?
