THIS CLASS / COURSE WILL TAKE AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT MEETING OVER A 6-8 MONTH PERIOD.
I’ve been making fruit wine for over two years and made 25 batches, 54 gallons, 270 bottles of wine; plum, raspberry-cranberry, beet, apple, cherry, mixed fruit, blueberry-raspberry, apple cider, strawberry, blackberry- cherry, blackberry, concord grape, peach, blueberry, mango, bing cherry, and chocolate-raspberry. At the end of the time, you will have made 4-5 bottles of a fruit wine of your choice.
I’ll step you through the process of making … step by step. It will cost you about $40-$50 … the cost is for materials (1 gallon fermentor, 1 gallon jug, 5 bottles, corks, cork covers) which you get to keep for future wine making. In addition, you’ll provide 5 pounds of whatever fruit you desire and about a bag of sugar.
Approximate timing: W-day minus 2; you obtain fruit, peel, remove pits & stems and freeze. W-day: we meet and mix fruit, H2O, yeast, sugar, plus other stuff. W-day +5, we rack the wine into gallon jug. W-day+40; we rack the wine, W-day+150; wine is pasteurized. W-day+180; wine is back-sweetened and bottled.
Winemaking takes time and patience. I believe the members who attended my wine tasking last Saturday will attest that the wine is delicious.
