Greetings CBG'ers,

CBG has 15 years of group riding experience and all your Organizers are doing a great job meeting that challenge. Now we need a little more help from you, our members. I thought this would be a respectful way to approach this topic.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
WHAT TO READ: When a NoVA CBG meetup is posted, you truly have to read (at a minimum) "The Ride: Summary" section. It is the shortest/quickest way to get you ALL NEEDED info about the ride (Terrain, Distance, Start Location, Start Time, etc..). That means on your phone you have to click the "Read More" words to expand the meetup write-up for viewing. This has become a problem of late with members not knowing important information about the event. CBG wants you to feel confident when you arrive for an event, not confused, so please read the write-up for the meetup.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
RSVP "No Shows" and "Drops within 24 Hours": Unfortunately these RSVP issues are increasing again and have a much larger impact now than ever before. Everyone is trying to be healthy and do activities outside so please be considerate of your fellow CBG members and honor your RSVP's or change them well in advance so we can maximize attendance to all our events properly. This includes removing yourself from the "waiting list" if you don't want to be added to the ride when someone changes their RSVP.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Organizers in CBG can't just drop from a ride or be late as they are orchestrating and assisting on the ride based on the participant number. Organizers also have to manage all aspects of the event (parking, bathrooms, food, water, etc..) so knowing who and how many are coming on a ride will help us continue to succeed.

NoVA CBG About Page (https://www.meetup.com/novacbg/about/)

  • This is where most of our policies have lived for the last 11 years. Some of you may not even be aware or remember some of these policies if you haven't glanced at the "About Page" in a long time. Please do read it, for full CBG membership understanding, but allow me to hit the highlights:

1a) "Our Legal Statement" can be found here (as well as in every meetup we post).
1b) "Our Ride Level Statement" can be found here (as well as in every meetup we post).
2) Membership in NoVA CBG is required to participate in any cycling event.
3) All riders must be at least 18 years of age.
4) No music is allowed on any NoVA CBG ride.
5) Helmets, a spare tube, and a bike that is in well-tuned shape (check your tire pressure with a pump) are mandatory for every ride we do.
6) Always have on you Identification, Insurance, and any other important medical information (A Road ID is ideal for this).
7) We have a "three strikes" NO SHOW policy. These will be addressed on a case by case basis.
8) We have a "three strikes" drop within 24 hour of the start of the ride policy as well. These will also be addressed on a case by case basis.

Once again, CBG's been at this for 11 years now... so we truly do need your help to stay on top of this. Thanks in advance for reading this and taking it to heart.

As always, be safe, and most importantly Stay Casual!!

Thanks
