The Ride: Detail
++++++++++++++++++++++
For your riding pleasure NoVA CBG presents The Fresh Baguette Ride.
They offer both savory and sweet pastries, quiches, and a new Cro'gel sandwich, a cross between a bagel and a croissant! You can check out their menu here: Fresh Baguette
Their gluten-free options are few - it is a French bakery, after all - but you have several other options available to choose from on that main drag in Bethesda.
The route is an "out and back" starting from the LBJ Grove / Columbia Island Marina, heading up Mt Vernon trail to Key Bridge, where we cross over and take Capitol Crescent Trail up to Bethesda. After we enjoy our pastries/ sandwiches, we will head back the way we came. Remember, the Capital Crescent Trail is an incline out, but a decline back so it will be a good start to the return trip. Continue back through Georgetown and the Mt. Vernon trail to Columbia Marina makes this a fairly simply ride but comes in at 20 miles so a beginner can do it (it's just a tad longer than our normal 15 miles ergo the Beginner PLUS).
