Seduction Theory by Emily Adrian - option 1 [ONLINE]
Details
“This tour de force is a campus novel, a love story, a coming-of-age narrative, a satire, a performance piece, an M.F.A. exposé, a trove of literary references and a primer on writing.” –The New York Times Book Review
From Joan:
"I've been seduced by Seduction Theory by Emily Adrian! The story centers around Simone and Ethan, a married couple together 20 years, both writers and professors of writing in the same college. They are loudly and voraciously sexual and seemingly a devoted and well-matched couple. Enter a new, alluring person for each of them... and that's where I'll stop. This novel has many attributes: big issues to discuss, a good plot, a short book, plus a point-of-view structure that keep you guessing. There are reviews online, but in my opinion, they reveal too much. I think you'd enjoy the book more without knowing certain things in advance."
From Mac:
"I began reading Seduction Theory and I couldn’t put it down. I finished it 48 hours later. Set in academe, it has special appeal to me as a retired academic who has witnessed and dealt with some of the sexual issues the novel addresses. But the book’s main intrigue for me is in trying to sort out who is narrating the story. This shifts subtly and repeatedly throughout the text and is not made clear (at least to me on a first reading) even at the end. The writing is excellent: lively, insightful, sexy, and often humorous. It would be a delight to discuss this in our group!"
from Jane:
"I devoured this after our last book group meeting. Who's the narrator is intriguing. It's a quick read and I think would lead to a lively discussion. Highly recommend it."
from Matthew:
"Yes, yes, yes on Seduction Theory. It's smart, funny, provocative and sexy. A short-ish book which holds a lot between the covers. Am highly recommending for our group."
