What we’re about
NTROPY was the name of a website and forum I started almost 20 years ago. It featured places I visited, featuring short histories and photo essays on industry and infrastructure, and related communities. It documented the general principle of eNTROPY - a lack of order or predictability with a gradual decline into disorder. It started with urban exploration in my city and then expanded outward.
This group is both a local walking group and a group that will offer tours outside of Toronto. Hidden Toronto Walks is the main walking group featuring walks in interesting and unconventional places in Toronto - and also is the title of a book I published in 2013, featuring hidden graffiti art in the city.
I'm currently working on the new Hidden Toronto Book, and some of these walks cover the areas documented in the book (other projects listed here): https://hiddentoronto.myshopify.com/
I have lived in Toronto all my life, and have spent a great deal of time walking and know all the hidden nooks in the city, just off the beaten path that go unnoticed. I have been documenting the city's graffiti art for 30 years, with over 20 focused on industry, infrastructure, and architecture both here and abroad.
Some of the images are also a part of the Toronto City Archive :
Get to know the other side of the city in a new light from the eyes of a local and artists leaving their mark. We stop to look at things and to chat, and go at a relaxed pace. This isn't a fitness group focused on speed.
