About us
I am Vicky, Artistic Director of Nunah Theatre. I have been making site specific, immersive, physical theatre work for years, most recently in the UK and now here. My last piece, The Wish Hotel, was devised in Lisbon with Portuguese and Scottish performers. What I want to make next is site-specific, non-verbal, physical work, built in the room by an ensemble rather than from a script, and staged in spaces that were never intended for theatre.
Right now it is just me and an idea, which is exactly why I am posting. The people who come to the first sessions will shape what this company becomes.
I want to meet regularly to devise, to keep our bodies working and our instincts sharp, and to make the kind of work that is impossible to make alone. If you have trained, if you have been performing for years, or if you have simply been out of a rehearsal room too long and want back in, come.
Who I am looking for: experienced open performers who move well. Physical theatre performers, actors with a strong physical practice and movement skills who are interested in being part of a creative community.
Being honest about where this stands: there is no funding yet. What there is is a serious devising practice, a director with international experience, and an intention of finding venues and residencies once we have material worth showing.
