Title:
Back up the cloudy bits

Abstract:
This might be a first for some but in the world of distributed systems things may and things will break. In many cases the solutions provided and the measures taken in the cloud to protect your data will not be enough to keep your service running in the event of an outage. Offloading these responsibilities to someone in the cloud is not an option, we need to make sure to understand how to deploy Apache Kafka in the cloud that is resilient to software bugs, human errors and how to make sure your data is safe and can be used as soon you make the switch to your backup. Which backup you ask?

Let's dive into the pros and cons of different backup solutions, when to use each solution to meet your RPO/RTO requirements. We'll also talk about Failover, Active-Active or Active-Passive, the responsibilities of the cluster owner and why you should care about the above when designing resilient architectures.

This talk goes through the requirements, assumptions and tasks to be performed and the questions you should be able to answer to make sure you're set to survive a potential outage.

Speaker Two:
Tobias Scholz, Head of BI and Analytics, NÜRNBERGER Versicherung & Jannis Gansen, CTO, CodeCamp:N

Title:
Silver Bullet Event-Streaming und Kafka
