Grief and Bereavement; "The Garden of Healing" a talk by John Hughes

Details
We hope you will join us as we host with great excitement the gifted and practical mystic, John Hughes. Until the end of June this year, John was a spiritual caregiver working in hospice for 14 years, and before that was a chaplain in inner-city hospitals for 18 months. A survivor of the tragic deaths of his young wife and young mother, he raised two daughters by himself for ten years and has been a practitioner of meditation, and yoga for 30 years. He has also taught meditation, of which he is a scholar. John is an author and his recent book is called "Heart Like A Bonfire", and hosts a podcast called "The Brambled Path".
He is now happy to bring what he has learned about grief and bereavement to you.
His presentation is formed from the lessons learned during his years of service to the dying and their families. He presents grief and bereavement as calling for three modes of coping, which he calls "The
Garden of Healing". The modes are triage practices for the immediate aftermath, ceremonial observance for anniversaries of your loss, and meditative self-healing, as a lifelong endeavor. He will delve into each
of these at length, including illustrative stories, and invite your engagement with what he is presenting.
