Come explore a less-traveled NOVA Park. This loop hike is 8.5 miles/800 ft. elevation gain between Pohick Bay Regional Park and George Mason’s Gunston Hall, with lovely water views and wildlife. This is an easier level "B" hike. Please make sure you are comfortable with the miles and pace.
George Mason was an architect of the American Revolution and a leading proponent of both limiting government tyranny and protecting citizens’ rights. Mason was the primary author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights and the Virginia Constitution, which influenced Thomas Jefferson in writing the Declaration of Independence.
We'll stop partway for a snack break. Please arrive at 8:20am to check in with the leader. There are restrooms at the start, and another along the trail.

ELEVATION GAIN: 800 ft.
PACE: 2.5-3.0 mph when moving (moderate to upper moderate)
RATING: B
TERRAIN: Mostly dirt with roots, some paved. No water crossings.

DIRECTIONS: From Richmond Highway, go south on Gunston Road for 3.7 miles. Go past the Pohick Bay Golf Course and Meadowood Stables. Turn left on Pohick Bay Drive. After entering the park, go straight. You will pass the disc golf, marina/boat rentals, Eagle’s Nest Veranda Shelter and boat launch parking. Loop past the Eagle’s Nest and you will see a parking lot on the right just past the boat launch parking lot. Plan to meet at 8:20am so we can get everyone checked in. There are restrooms at the Eagles Nest Veranda.
