Pinnacles Picnic Area to Stony Man Mountain (Rating: B)

You must read the following NVHC Sign-in Sheet Statement/Liability Disclaimer, https://nvhc.com/signin.pdf and then answer the question that you will see when you RSVP with "I accept" to be permitted on the hike.

This is a ~9-mile hike in the Shenandoah National Park with around 1600 feet elevation gain.

Most of the hike will be on the Appalachian Trail, except for a small hike up to Stony Man and the return on the Passamaquoddy trail. With a maximum elevation of 4,011 feet, the summit of Stony Man Mountain is the 2nd highest in the park and offers great vistas of the Shenandoah National Park and Page Valley.

Dogs: Because they are not allowed on the Stony Man Trail they will not be permitted on the hike.

Park Entrance Fee: The Park entrance fee is $30 per car or free with a park pass.

Carpools: Feel free to arrange a carpool in the comment section below. Carpooling is organized by the participants and they participate at their own risk. Note: it is about 90 min from Centreville Park & Ride to the trailhead.

The trail head is in the Pinnacles Picnic Area (GPS coordinates: 38.6235, -78.3436) just south of mile marker 36, 5.3 miles south of the Thornton Gap entrance . Please plan to be at the Pinnacles Picnic Area trailhead about 15 min early or 8:45 AM.

Hike Rating: B
At just shy of 9 miles and probably shy of 1600ft/400ft = 4 eq mi. This makes the hike shy of 13 miles, which is a harder B-hike.
