10 mile circuit hike with about 860 feet of elevation change.
Join us for a nice scenic hike along Quantico Creek and in the adjoining forest area.
Description:
Starting from the Turkey Run Education Center/Campground, we will hike several trails including High Meadows, South Valley, Oak Ridge, and then to Old Blacktop Road back to our starting point. There are several rolling hills, but they are short and spread out. Most of the hike is fairly level. Most of the hike is in the forest canopy.
The pace will be about 2.5 mph.
There are restrooms at the Turkey Run Education Center where we start and finish. There may be a restroom available (seasnonal) at Oak Ridge Campground where we will stop for lunch.
Bring:
At least 2 liters of water/hydration, snacks/lunch, and sturdy hiking shoes since there are some rocky areas and tree roots. There are no stream crossings. Hiking poles if you use them. We will stop a little over halfway for lunch.
Fee:
The park fee is $20 unless you have a National Park Pass. Military, veterans, and gold star family members are also eligible for free admission.
