This is 9 mile circuit hike with an elevation gain of 2000' that will begin at the Elizabeth Furnace Day Use Picnic area in the Massanutten Mountains of George Washington & Jefferson National Forests. We will start on the Botts Trail then take on the Sherman Gap trail to the ridge. We will hike on the Tuscarora trail to Shawl Gap and then go ~.5mile out and back each way to a scenic overlook of Fort Valley where we will have lunch. We hike at a pace of 2.5-3.0 mph while moving.

Neither the Club nor the hike leaders are responsible for coordinating transportation to/from the trailhead. Hikers are not guaranteed to get a ride to the trailhead from the carpool location. Carpooling is organized by the participants and they participate at their own risk.
