People who are doing both hike and museum tour will be given priority for this event. All people will initially be put on the wait list. If you answer the question that you plan to do both you will be moved to going list if space exists.
As the event date approaches if there is space, people who are only doing the hike would be moved to going. Those that may change to hike only at a later time will be moved back to the waitlist.

Answer “I accept and I will do both the hike and museum tour”
This is a two part event.
First we will do a 5.5-mile out-and-back hike, with approximately 300’ in elevation gain, in central Fairfax County. We will begin from the Visitors Center for the Ellanor C. Lawrence Park. That was the historical location of the Walney family houses, which dated from before the Civil War. From there we will proceed on a trail through a wooded area until we come to Walney Rd. We will cross Walney Road at historic Cabell’s Mill. The mill is believed to date back to 1769, prior to the American Revolution. From there we begin a short out-and-back on the wooded Rocky Run Stream Valley Trail, much of which is asphalt. We will hike along Rocky Run until we arrive at Stringfellow Rd., from where we will return to the parking lot. Over the course of the hike there are only a few short and moderate climbs.
After the hike, we will take a short 15 minute drive to the Udvar- Hazy Air and Space Museum for a 11:00am start of a guided tour by one of the docents. The tour will last 1.5 hours. There is a $15 parking fee for the museum, there is no other entrance fee. To save on this fee, we can form some carpools from the trailhead location. No dogs permitted on this hike.
We hike at a pace of 2.5-3.0 mph when moving.
This hike has a permit fee. I will need to collect $2.00 from everyone at the beginning of the hike. Small bills only please.
