Mississippi Heat Concert and Picnic at Independence Grove

Details
Led by Chicago Hall of Fame harmonica master and songwriter Pierre Lacocque, Mississippi Heat stands as a world-class Chicago Blues Band. They describe their style as “traditional blues with a unique sound” as they present a blend of fresh innovative musical concepts while remaining rooted in vintage blues traditions.
Sit back and chill with a round of the blues to stave off the heat! Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and pack a snack. Food and drink are also available at the plaza. Parking for the concert is $10 per vehicle and opens at 4:30. I was informed that there is overflow parking available. The concert starts at 7 and runs until 8:30 in the natural amphitheater around the plaza, facing the lake.
Come early and take a little hike before the show, or just enjoy the lovely venue. I will be there arouind 6:30 to stake out space. I will have a dark green tarp and a yellow noodle. My plan is to have a spot on the hill, right of center, facing the plaza and lake.
Organizer is not responsible if late arrivals are turned away due to a full parking lot.
Event will be cancelled in the case of extreme heat or rain.
I realize that "extreme heat" is subjective! I will cancel if temps are beyond 92 F.
