Mississippi Heat Concert and Picnic at Independence Grove

Details
Led by Chicago Hall of Fame harmonica master and songwriter Pierre Lacocque, Mississippi Heat stands as a world-class Chicago Blues Band. They describe their style as “traditional blues with a unique sound” as they present a blend of fresh innovative musical concepts while remaining rooted in vintage blues traditions.
Sit back and chill with a round of the blues to stave off the heat! Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and pack a picnic. There also is food and drink available at the plaza. Parking for the concert is $10 per vehicle and opens at 4:30; the concert starts at 7 and runs until 8:30 in the natural amphitheater around the plaza facing the lake.
Advice is to arrive early as there is no overflow parking. Come early and take a little hike before the show, or just enjoy the lovely venue. I will be there at 5:30 and would love to have company and help staking out space. I will have a green tarp. My plan is to have a spot on the hill, left of center, facing the plaza and lake.
Organizer is not responsible if late arrivals are turned away due to a full parking lot.
Event will be cancelled in the case of extreme heat or rain.
I realize that "extreme heat" is subjective! I will cancel if temps are beyond 92 F.
