Larch Mtn in the rain/snow (15-17 miles)

Greetings -

Weather looks rainy/windy/unstable this weekend, but we will give it a go in doing a Larch Mtn loop. I expect to hit snow/ice.

Meetup at 730a near the Multnomah Falls gift shop. We will start up the Larch Mtn trail to reach the Larch Mtn summit. I expect snow at the top. No views though.

If the weather cooperates even a little bit, we may try to reach Susan and/or Akhtar Lakes offtrail, then scramble up what is shown in the post photo.

BRING:
- food/water
- raingear
- microspikes
- a sense of humor
- gloves, hat
- headlamp

DISTANCE: 15-17 miles
OFFTRAIL: probably
ELEVATION GAIN: 4000+ ft
CREEK CROSSINGS: yes!

I plan to bring my dog. He his done hikes up to 20 miles. Please let me know if you plan to bring a dog for this long hike. Thanks!

I plan to meet folks at the Meetup point 730a. Feel free to coordinate transportation for yourself if needed as appends on this Meetup.

I assume those who sign up are well versed in hiking, know what to bring and have an expectation of what a long day like this entails. This is an all day hike. Don't expect to be back at any particular time. My hope is we finish before last light.
