Sunny skies, foliage of harvest gold, burnt sienna, rust orange, and electric chartreuse will welcome you to the majestic vistas of the western Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. This won't be the typical huff-n-puff up, get in a few selfies, and then head back down, but you'll be treated to an additional two mile bonus loop heading up toward Devil's Rest that will add 400 more feet of elevation gain and ensure we get some solitude. When we make our way back to the Angel's Rest lookout point, be prepared for abstract visions of natural beauty that Vincent van G would have cut off his other ear for. Then we'll head back down

This hike will be at comfortable-ish pace, but the added distance and elevation gain makes this a little more difficult and time consuming than just the typical Angel's Rest outing, and please don't underestimate the first two miles of the hike, it's unrelenting up-Up-UP!

Length: 6.5 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1850 ft
Dogs: No
Warnings: Steep rocky terrain, cliffs, colorful poison oak.

I always encourage ride sharing as it's best for the planet, pocketbook, and helps reduce parking hassles at the trailhead, but unfortunately, I will not be organizing a Portland area carpool location, but feel free to try to organize a rideshare in the event chat.

We will meet at the trailhead bench/reader board at the lower parking area on the Old Columbia River Highway and we will start our way up at 10:00 so please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to departure.
