Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve walk
Details
The group explores parts of this 400+ acre preserve in Lake County. It hosts wildlife, walking trails and fishing areas.
We meet in the parking lot before heading out on a nearby trailhead. Set amid bustling suburbs, Buffalo Creek is a quiet place to relax and recreate with nature. Its wide open spaces are safe, clean and easy to explore.
This expansive 408-acre preserve offers 5.5 miles of gravel trails for walking, biking and cross-country skiing. Trails run through open areas within the preserve, crossing several creeks, skirting the reservoir and traversing restored prairie.
We will walk at a moderate pace enabling us to take in the wildlife and wildflowers on view here.
Please dress weather appropriate and wear sturdy closed toe footwear. Water for hydration along with a hat for sun protection are recommended.
Walkers participate at their own risk.
