93rd NY Hardware Meetup | Climate Week NYC

Details

Join us for our next hardware meetup during ClimateWeek NYC as we lead a panel discussion on best practices in sustainable and alternative models in hardware development and manufacturing. Sponsored by Scale For ClimateTech. This panel will be moderated by Shelby Thompson, Program Director, For ClimateTech.

This month we'll be at Makelab! Makelab is an on-demand 3D printing service for parts + prototypes serving consumer/hardware brands locally in NYC and shipping nationwide. Founded by two Pratt industrial designers with decades of hands-on expertise in product design & development. Makelab works with agencies like Doris Dev, PENSA, Interwoven Design Group, and brands like AiTA Bio, Estee Lauder, Judith Leber, Aigen, and Eaton to accelerate agile product development while ensuring quality outcomes. Get an instant quote or a 1:1 consultation for your next project at http://www.makelab.com

We have a great group of guest panelists:

  • Emilie Williams is an internationally award-winning industrial designer currently working in smart home sustainability technology. Her 20-year career has focused on the design and manufacture of a variety of products for the home including kitchen & bath, lighting, spa, reusable beverage, and consumer electronics. She holds over 100 utility, software, and design patents and her products have been sold at most major big-box retailers, including Target, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, and online. She is dedicated to building a better future through products that are both human & environmentally-centric.
  • Aphrodite Brinsmead is the Director of Product Marketing at Duro where she's responsible for messaging, partner marketing, and creating content in the hardware space. Duro's intuitive Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform is designed to help disruptive hardware teams design and build products faster. It includes predefined agile workflows to manage sourcing, BOMs, and revisions. Everyone involved with the hardware development process can make timely decisions and move with agility.
  • Taras Kravtchouk is the Founder and Head of Design for Tarform Motorcycles. Tarform Motorcycles is an automotive startup with a mission to set a new standard for two-wheeled transportation. We are launching a new breed of electric motorcycles by integrating cutting-edge technology, green mobility, and smart connectivity. Tarform aims to address the entire lifecycle of our vehicles to have the greatest impact on our ecological footprint. This means using biotechnology to create a biobased composite that eliminates toxic materials and minimizes waste. The largest panel on the motorcycle is made out of flaxseed weave, biobased resin, and algae carbon as a pigment.
