The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Haskell in Enterprise

Details

Speaker: Anthony Burzillo (Bloomberg)

Abstract:

In this talk we will discuss our usage of Haskell internally at Bloomberg, and how we've dealt with building and deploying Haskell-backed tooling far and wide within our own enterprise setting.

While we will discuss some of the great things that Haskell has enabled us to accomplish (including tooling we built to automate most of our internal usage), we will primarily focus on pain points or other blockers that are preventing us from using Haskell the way we'd like to. We will especially bring up issues we've encountered with respect to stack and hackage, which we use heavily.

We hope that by sharing our experience we can either encourage the community at large to work with us to find solutions to some of these issues or help us to learn about already existent solutions.
