Towards a rational understanding of the political spectrum

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WEEK'S EVENT IS TAKING PLACE ON SATURDAY RATHER THAN SUNDAY.

Points of discussion:

• What would be a rational definition of the political spectrum?
• Does the current conception of Left / Right reflect this definition?
• What is the philosophic essence of the political left?
• What is the philosophic essence of the political right?
• What is the philosophic essence of the subgroups that are associated with each of these terms?
• Where, logically, would each of these subgroups fall within a rationally-defined political spectrum?
• Where, logically, would each of the four present candidates for mayor of NYC fall within a rationally-defined political spectrum?
