Tech Talk Prep: Give 2, 5 or 10 Min Talk
Details
THIS EVENT REQUIRES PREPARATION
At this event, we will break out into groups of 4-6 engineers to give practice giving talks and get feedback from peers.
ALL ATTENDEES MUST GIVE A TALK. You MUST prepare.
You will choose to give one of the following talks:
• 2 minute casual overview of a topic you're considering developing a talk on, or
• 5 minute mini talk or demo (great for getting over the fear we all have of public speaking), or
• 10 minute lightening talk
This event is for all levels of engineers. This event is for engineering talks only.
Pre-work
• 1 week before the event, you must submit a topic overview. If we have the time and resources, we will share these for collaboration and feedback from the full group.
• 2 days before the event, you must submit a presentation deck or an outline of your talk.
Agenda
6:30 - 7:00PM Arrive, mingle, dinner & drinks.
7:00 We'll give a brief overview of the exercises and break everyone into groups and move into smaller rooms
7:00 - Talks + 5 min feedback
Discussion in small groups / general thoughts, feedback, encouragement
8:30 Bring the full group together to congratulate and talk about next steps
