Join Airtight Services for this unique opportunity in western NY to get in-depth, hands-on training in the exciting field of Passive House Design and Construction! This intensive 2-day course will provide participants with:
• a strong foundation in Passive House Principles,
• an understanding of common construction materials used, and
• hands-on experience with airtight, thermal-bridge-free construction.
Participants will leave with an understanding of what unique aspects make a building a Passive House and will have contributed to the building of an actual Passive House structure on campus!
Presenter: Bill LaBine is a certified designer/consultant/tradesman (US and International)and has extensive experience lecturing and designing low energy homes in western NY.
Class Size: The class size will be limited to 12 participants, 6 students and 6 community members
Cost: Students: $25, Community members: $295, $195 for early registration by Oct. 10. A $50 discount is available to all NYPH members.

Saturday, October 21
8:30 am Check in
9:00 am Lecture: Background on Passive House history and principles.
10:30 am Lecture: A deeper look at Airtight, Thermal Bridge Free Construction
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Hands On: Construct and air seal shed walls, properly integrate them to the foundation and prepare for sealing the ceiling.
4:30 pm Close
Sunday, October 22
9:00 am Classroom Q&A, Lecture: PH Windows
10:30 am Hands On: Continue building the shed including integration of the ceiling.
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Hands On: Conduct a blower door test on the shed!?!
2:00 pm Hands On: Continue building, including integration of window and door
4:30 pm Close
