Welcome to C.A.R.E. (Chill Adventures and Random Events)!
This group is for those extraordinary seekers of fun and adventures in the New York City (or nearby) area who channel their inner “badass” with a “wanna do” spirit and a positive attitude to Escape, Explore and Experience spontaneous adventures and the occasional quirky random events throughout NYC, Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New Jersey areas.
Whether you're into hiking, walks in the parks, chasing waterfalls, embarking on an enchanting day trip out of town, get social over a scrumptious meal, get sloshed at happy hours, taking in the latest Broadway shows, volunteer for a worthy cause … AND a special call out to those adrenaline junkies with a yen for kayaking, whitewater rafting, moving a mountain, rock climbing, ice climbing, rappel down a waterfall, and … wait for it … flinging your body out of a perfectly good airplane ... or all of the above ... we will do it all!! The fun possibilities are endless! CARPE DIEM BABY!!!
Our philosophy is simple … BE POSITIVE, HAVE FUN and ENJOY THE MOMENTS and memories we will be building together.
We aim to run our Meetups full of Friendships, Goofy Laughter, some Colorful Language and all the FUN you can handle.
Our events will be all over the map: throughout the five boroughs of New York City and beyond... north to Hudson Valley and Connecticut ... over the river to New Jersey ... east to Long Island ... south to Philadelphia ... all reachable by public transportation!
Getting There: All our events will be reachable on Metro-North, Long Island Railroad (LIRR), Amtrak, MTA Subway/Buses and Uber/Lyft to get us to where we need to go.

See all- Wanna Hike Mashomack Preserve on Shelter IslandBridgehampton LIRR Station, Bridgehampton, NY
Let's take a leisurely hike at Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island, reachable on Long Island Railroad (LIRR) and local Uber and taxi. Total mileage is about 10-11 miles. Apres hike, we'll explore Shelter Island itself. There'll be opportunity to take a swim at a Shelter Island beach.
About the Preserve: Edged by 10 miles of coastline, Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island is just 90 miles from New York city and encompasses tidal creeks, mature oak woodlands, fields and freshwater and saltwater marshes. From pristine shores, watch osprey dive for fish. Nearly 200 bird species, including endangered piping plover and least tern, have been recorded. Read more about the Preserve ====> HERE and HERE
GETTING THERE: In the morning, LIRR to BRIDGEHAMPTON. At the end of the day we'll be coming back from GREENPORT LIRR STATION
- If you are taking LIRR from Penn Station: LIRR train leaves at 7:47AM, transfer at Jamaica at 8:14AM and arrives in BRIDGEHAMPTON at 10:20AM.
- If you are taking LIRR from Jamaica Station: LIRR train leaves at 8:14AM and arrives in BRIDGEHAMPTON at 10:20AM.

Once we arrive at Bridgehampton station at 10:20AM, we'll share an Uber to the South Ferry Terminal in Sag Harbor. It's a 12-min ride where we will pick up the next available ferry to Shelter Island. Ferry ride is 5 mins

AGENDA: Once on Shelter Island we'll share another Uber ride to Mashomack Preserve. Or we can walk to the Preserve.

PACE: We hike at LEISURELY PACE AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

Once we finish the hike, we'll make our way to Shelter Island Heights, which is the center of town. We'll explore town and grab dinner here before we make our way to the North Ferry which will take us to GREENPORT to pick up the next LIRR back to NYC.

- Ferry leaves every 10-20 mins. Ferry fare is $3.00 CASH ONLY. Pay when you get there.
- the North Ferry terminal is a 2-minute walk from the GREENPORT LIRR station
- We'll be at Greenport LIRR station in time for the 4:39pm train back to NYC
- If you want to stay longer to explore Greenport and have dinner in the area, we can catch the 8:41pm train back to NYC.

- Dress for the weather.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Bring lunch and snacks and beverage for yourself.
- Bring sunscreen, bug spray, head cover
- Bring sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way. Please leave the drama and crankiness at home.

As the summer of '25 starts to wind down ... let's get outside and go kayaking with Mountain Valley Guides. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. Their guides will have you paddling in minutes. Gear, kayak, guides and instruction are all included in the price.
About the Tour: Our guides have come up with the perfect Hudson River Kayak Tour to spend your weekend afternoon. Join the Hudson Valley's only TWO BREWERY KAYAK TOUR. Our Paddles and Pints Tour departs from the Newburgh Waterfront and heads out for an easy paddle across the Hudson River to Beacon. Upon beaching or kayaks at Long Dock, we will take a relaxing 10 minute walk up to the 2 WAY BREWERY for a pint of some fine crafted Hudson Valley Beer. Many paddlers also purchase lunch at this location as and have an extra pint as well. We spend about 45mins at this Brewery before we return to the river and make our trek back across the Hudson to Newburgh. Once in Newburgh we make our way up to the Newburgh Brewery for another pint on us.

- The 8:55AM Metro-North out of Grand Central Terminal gets you to Beacon at 10:27AM
- From Beacon, it's a 20-min share ride to the kayak meeting point
