Bringing Droidcon Montreal to NYC

Droidcon Montreal happened last week so we're bringing a few of the talks to you. We'll also have big news about Droidcon NYC 2015! (along with a secret discount code)

Speakers:

-- Dario Laverde, senior developer evangelist at HTC: "ANDROID AND DEVICES: FROM BLE TO VR"

Dario will briefly walk us through Android's ongoing role in the Internet of Things: from Bluetooth LE to VR (featuring the Cardboard SDK).

-- William Hoang, Couchbase Developer Advocate: "NO BARS, NO PROBLEM: ALWAYS ON AND AVAILABLE MOBILE APPS"

This talk would be around the implementation story of creating offline and online applications on Android Mobile. He'll go through creating data object model relations, designing for performance in difficult areas with no signal, and developing a local Android NoSQL database that syncs to the cloud.

-- Lisa Neigut, Electric Objects Android Engineer: "ARTFULLY EMBEDDED ANDROID"

Lisa will cover the challenges and pitfalls of retro-fitting Android for a device that's not a phone, her survival plan for pushing updates without the Google Play store, and how they're making Android artful. She'll also discuss challenges of digital art, and what strides they're making in engineering GIF and graphics performance on an embedded device.
