December meetup at Jun Group

Details
Hopefully you’ve recovered from Thanksgiving food coma and can join us for a bunch of interesting talks next Wednesday! You'll also be near Rockefeller, just in time for Christmas lights :) Please bring photo ID for check-in.
>> Threading the Needle
When building an SDK, extra care must be taken to avoid the introduction of an unpredictable threading strategy into the application. Because the behavior of an app is outside the control of a 3rd party SDK, multithreading can be a complex problem in any app as its behavior is outside of the control in your development efforts. Common problems from incorrect threading strategies include crashes, deadlocks, and unpredictable behavior. We will discuss threading strategies to avoid these problems.
-- David Wood, CTO of Jun Group
>> Presto — developing with gesture
Presto is an SDK for Android that can detect gestures like snaps, flicks and other hand movements, when a user is wearing a smartwatch. We hope to create a new paradigm of user interaction with our devices. SDKs are available for Android and Unity. We’ll explain what’s possible with the library, then do a live coding example of building a gesture enabled app.
-- Sumeet Thadani & David Jay, Co-founders of Presto
>> Meet Project Phoebe: A moonshot concept for mutative design
Project Phoebe is the first step toward mutative design - a new design methodology that would allow interfaces to be born, live, and evolve according to a user's reality.
-- Liam Spradlin, Mobile Designer at touchlab
