April meetup at Meetup

Details
For April we'll be meeting at Meetup! Come for Android tech talks, pizza and as usual, good company. Doors will open at 7pm so we don't disturb anyone working late.
There were 40 no shows at our March meetup but we had over 170+ waitlisted members who really wanted to come. We track attendance at check-ins so if you have a history of RSVPing and not showing up, we may bump you to the waitlist so those with a positive attendance history can come. We put a lot of time and effort into planning each meetup so please RSVP accordingly.
Talks:
>> Managing background tasks with steroids, by Edison Wang, MoLabs
Apps these days have many background tasks that need to be done and often need to maintain a consistent state across different tasks. It gets difficult when you add more and more features as well as teammates. In this talk, I'll introduce a pattern where we schedule all of the state dependent tasks on a Service and communicate with the UI effectively, in a scalable way via annotation processors.
>> Managing data synchronization with RxJava, by Larry Ng, Meetup
Meetup's official Android app is in large part a front-end to its public HTTP API, which means we often have to deal with client-server issues like pagination spanning multiple requests, request error handling, caching and refreshing. This talk will reveal a few ways (beyond basic operators) of how we've been using RxJava in our rebuilding of the app to manage data synchronization nicely.
>> Creating PaperCraft for Android Wear, by Matthew Lim, Spotify
I'll be focusing on two main areas. The first will be how to write a fast game loop on Android, and the second part will be more focused around dynamic/static drawing using Canvas.
Thanks to Mike for coordinating, and Meetup for hosting us, pizza & drinks!
