President's Day Weekend 2025 in Vermont โท๏ธ๐ฟโ๏ธ๐ฅพ๐
Details
- What are we doing up in Vermont?
- During the day we will downhill ski, snowboard, go ice climbing, xc skiing or hiking. Whatever you want to do there will be at least one other person who will probably be happy to join in. At night we will hang out and get food in Burlington or Waterbury.
- I will post a spreadsheet of activities so that people can self organize depending on what they want to do. I also set up a chat a few days before the trip so that you can further arrange for rides to go hiking or skiing or ice climbing.
- How are we getting up there?
- You can carpool. Look at the carpool spreadsheet and contact the drivers to get a ride. We usually have more cars and people who need rides. Here is the link to that rides sheet: http://bit.ly/2CHyNv6
- You can also take Amtrak. There are two daily trains to Burlington. One straight to downtown and one to Essex Junction. Essex Junction is closer. From there you can take a bus that drops you off a 10 minute walk from the Sonesta. Or Uber it to the hotel.
- Third option is to fly in to Burlington
- Is there a chat for the weekend?
- Yes. I will post it in the comments section when I set it up.
- Where are we staying?
- We are staying at the Sonesta Inn in Burlington
- It is $190 per person for one of the spots in the Queen Size bed or one of two double beds or the sofa bed. Details below on payment.
- Please fill the rooms spreadsheet here once you have paid me for you spot: http://bit.ly/2lEwzVS
- I know some people have booked their own room or are staying at a different hotel. Let me if you have done either.
- Is breakfast included?
- Yes a standard breakfast in included each morning.
- How about dinner
- You can talk to your roommates about cooking dinner in the suite. There is kitchen and regular size fridge in each room. Some of us will probably go out for dinner both nights in Burlington.
- How do I pay you
- You can send me the money via PayPal or Zelle to metope@gmail.com or Venmo to @xico-mancheno. Send it ASAP. I only have a few spots available. Your RSVP does not count until you send me the money for a spot in the hotel. No refunds the late in the game.
- It's 190 for a spot. Some of the spots are for sharing like the Queen bed. Fill out on the spots on the sheet.
- Where do I write my name down for a spot?
- Once you have paid me please add your name to a spot in the spreadsheet: http://bit.ly/2lEwzVS
- What are people doing up there?
- People are downhill skiing/snowboarding, XC skiing, uphill skiing, hiking or ice climbing. This is an event where everyone can choose their own adventure. There is an activities spreadsheet here: https://bit.ly/2C01tBR
- Are newbies welcome?
- Yes, there will be activities for all levels including skiing. You can take beginner ski lessons at any of the resorts in Vermont.
- Are kids welcome?
- Yes, kids are welcome of all ages.
- Where are people downhill skiing or XC skiing?
- There are a bunch of ski resorts around the area. So people will probably shoot for Stowe, Smuggs, Sugarbush, Bolton Valley, Mad River Glen or Jay. Use the chat to coordinate this. I will ski Sugarbush for sure on Monday on my way back to NYC.Also there is uphill skiing at Bolton Valley with rentals and loads of other backcountry skiing in the area.
- For XC skiing there is Bolton Valley, Stowe, Von Trapp (yes the family from the Sound of Music own it.) and other spots in the area.
